This is Janet Cherrypicker's scrapbooking challenge for January: Something Old, Something New. There are several ways to use this challenge. You could scrap an old photo beside a new one. You could use old stuff from your stash with new collections. Or, you could mix these up.
In my personal take of Janet's challenge, I used my Star Bright January kit to make a layout that contains 'old' looking vintage elements mixed with new, right on trend, graphical elements.
That is a great tip for getting to use those products that perhaps are looking a bit 'outdated' in style. Mixing styles, and sneaking in a couple of small accents that is contrasting against the main style, is a wonderful way to create some excitement in a page!
These are the supplies that I used for this page:
Papers from Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper (Open Air, the heart bokeh one), the other 3 patterned papers are from Amy Tangerine's Yes, Please collection (Commit, Remember and Thoughtful), gold polka dot vellum from Dear Lizzy American Crafts, pink camera print from Cosmo Cricket's Twenty Three.
Gold doily, wood veneer and stickers from Studio Calico. Veneer pieces are painted with Heidi Swapp's Color Shine Gold Lamé. You can buy the Gold Lamé Color Shine from Scrapbook.com or from Simon Says Stamp.
Washi tape from Freckled Fawn and Studio Calico. Resin roses and chipboard shapes from Prima. Embellished butterflies from Jenni Bowlin. Glazed brad from Basic Grey. Felt and wood veneer piece from Pink Paislee (Sweetness collection). Punched heart from Pow! American Crafts glitter paper. Gold glitter title thickers from Dear LIzzy. Sequins from my own stash and Studio Calico. The resin heart with the banner is my own finding.
